It is just a matter of time before we find the suitable vehicle which allows us to channel our creativity

I have been an established photographer since 1985. I started off specializing in Equestrian photography working for various clients world wide. Whether I'd be shooting for magazines, public relations and advertising companies, sponsors or book publishers I always set out to get images that not only tell a story but remain in people's minds.

I grew up in Austria where thanks to my parents' love for horses I was introduced to my first pony at the age of five.

My affinity with animals, specially with horses and dogs soon grew and as my school years at the French Lycee in Vienna went by it was getting more and more evident that a career with horses would win over an academic one. Age 18 I trained and competed around Europe including England and Ireland. My adoration for nature also blossomed with every passing of the seasons.

At 25 having had a good run in the horse world, back problems resulted in my having to give up horses. It was quite a blow! But nonetheless I took "advantage" of this sudden transformation and the close of one thing resulted in the beginning of a new challenge. I took a year out, travelled to far away places, collected experiences and most of all I discovered a new channel for my life: photography.

Starting off in a field I was very familiar with, namely horses, was the perfect start to my photographic career. And the perfect country for that seemed to be England. Not only because I am British but primarily because the UK was one of the leading nations in the field. So I moved to London in 1985. And from there I travelled the world covering all major International Equestrian Events including European, World and Olympic Championships.

And collecting a great deal of photographic material during all these years meant that I was in addition able to have three books published for which I also wrote the words : Visions of Show Jumping; Visions of Eventing; and Visions of Dressage.

In 1999 I won first prize in "The Silver Camera Award"
for best Equestrian Photograph.

All along my photographic career I simultaneously got commissions in other areas including fashion within the sporting industry, life style, film sets, portraiture... Towards the end of 1999 my photographic work has also extended into a slightly different direction and, as well as being sent on assignments, I am also enjoying creating images that point towards another level of creativity.

On such occasions I set out to capture nature, light, colours and certain objects in an abstract way. I draw my inspiration from nature's innumerable colours & countless shapes. None of these images are computer manipulated in any way. And, I work purely with a specific choice of lenses and different focusing points. I also try to capture movement in what could perhaps be categorized as "still life" photography.

In the summer of 2000 I had my first photographic exhibition at the Unicorn Gallery in London - theme: "An Artistic Interpretation of the Horse in Action". In March 2002 further photographic exhibition at the Studio Gallery in Vienna - theme "Colours and Shapes" (>photography>art)

I find creative work extremely satisfying and I believe that we are all born with a special gift and the right to express that talent freely. It is just a matter of time before we find the suitable vehicle which allows us to channel our creativity. For me one of those channels happens to be images. I deeply appreciate and respect nature and am fascinated by the infinite often contrasting beauty that nature is capable of creating, be it colours, light, shapes, atmospheres, moments ... as well as people and animals I love and need open spaces and consider myself a free spirit. Photography allows me to move in and explore these areas.
